🛠️ How much does it cost to repair a garage door in Colorado’s high Rockies region?
Why won’t my garage door open or close?
Common causes include broken springs, misaligned sensors, dead remote batteries, or a disconnected opener.
⚠️ If it doesn’t open on the first try, don’t keep pressing the button — if a spring is broken, you could burn out the motor or cause further damage.
Can I fix a broken garage door spring myself?
No — garage door springs are under extreme tension and should only be handled by trained professionals with the right tools.
A temporary fix can be made while waiting for a replacement, but only by a professional technician.
How long do garage door springs last in Colorado’s high Rockies climate?
The springs we use have a 15,000-cycle lifespan, which equals about 14 years of daily use.
Cold garages and temperature swings can shorten this life, so regular tune-ups are essential.
Do you offer same-day garage door repair near Salida?
Yes! That Garage Door Guy provides same-day and emergency service across Salida, Buena Vista, Poncha Springs, and throughout Chaffee, Custer, Park, Fremont, and Gunnison Counties.
How much does a new garage door cost to install in Salida?
Depending on size, material, insulation, glass, and motor type, prices range from $2,000–$5,000, with premium models exceeding that. We offer several quality options to fit your home and budget.
What are the best garage doors for Colorado’s mountain climates?
We recommend insulated steel doors — they hold up best to cold, snow, and wind. Wood is not ideal for the Rockies, while composite offers aesthetics but limited insulation value.
Can you install smart garage door openers?
Absolutely. We install and program modern Wi-Fi garage door openers from brands like LiftMaster and Genie that connect directly to your smartphone for easy control and monitoring.
How long does garage door installation take?
Most standard installations take 2–5 hours, depending on the door size, opener setup, and existing hardware.
Do new garage doors increase home value?
Yes — according to Clopay’s research, new garage doors can increase home value beyond their installation cost, offering one of the highest ROIs in home improvements.
Do garage doors need special insulation for cold mountain weather?
Yes. We recommend a minimum of R9 insulation value. Proper installation and sealing are key to energy efficiency and durability in the Rockies.
Can hail or snow damage my garage door?
More likely hail can cause damage. The snow can cause the door to freeze to the ground. Causing the motor to strain and potentially break with use. Our sun does fade the paint. Car wax can be applied to the doors to protect and keep it looking new. It is not recommended to paint your door. Firstly painting it will void the factory warranties. Secondly you need special paint that has a certain reflective light value to prevent the door from getting to hot and causing the insulation and metal to warp and bubble.
Do you serve Buena Vista and the Arkansas River Valley?
Yes. That Garage Door Guy proudly serves Salida, Buena Vista, Poncha Springs, Nathrop, and the greater Arkansas River Valley, including Lake, Chaffee, Fremont, Custer, Park, Saguache and Gunnison Counties.
